In Spanish this phrase literally means "pure life" but is more commonly thought of as meaning "full of life." Costa Ricans use this phrase to express a philosophy of strong community, perseverance, resilience in overcoming difficulties with good spirits, enjoying life slowly, and celebrating good fortune of magnitudes small and large alike. This blog is about our life... Pura Vida!

Dear Baby...

You can arrive anytime now. We are ready for you. Your mother is feeling your very strong kicks and thinking that you are getting to big and strong for in there. She also had to sleep sitting upright last night for comfort, even though she still didn't sleep that well. So again, feel free to come anytime, preferably before August 7th because that's when your doctor is going on vacation for a week! And your mother might throw a fit if her doctor isn't around.

Can't wait to meet you!

Love,

Your family

Sweet little one, I'm with mommy. PLEASE come soon!! I cannot wait to meet you and see if you are a boy or girl (I think boy). And I am ever-so-curious as to what name mommy and daddy have picked for you.

Until then, stopping giving your mom such grief and just arrive safely.

Oh BABY!!! You must be a boy since you are making your mama so uncomfortable! Maybe you will be a soccer player.... Katie, at least the baby probably won't be 10 lbs 7 oz (my co-worker just had one that size).
